National Treasure 2 (not again)
So here’s this movie with Nicholas Cage (the name that sells this to millions). Mr. Cage was good in some movies (like face/off) and also quite mediocre in lots more. This one is a prime example of the latter.
The movie - nonetheless - is enjoyable for action-movie fans. It is a typical one. You also have the usual we find some clues here (mostly at first try - the only time the protagonist did not find it at first was with the table in buckingham… the second try won that too) and then promptly move over. Then we find an other clue (immediately!) and move on again - till the movie ends. Quite boring and predictable if you ask me. But I know it will earn the invested money multiple times
The other thing is the slight educational-purpose clues. Like the one in the beginning that “my bookkeeper advised me to put my money onto a small island that is nonexistant in order to reduce tax” -> guy’s car is towed away -> “you know how much is 5 million USD’s tax? 6 million”. Well right, right. We all have heard rumours about the IRS (and I believe them) but this is a bit much. The guy should move over to Canada at least. Besides tax is illegal. To put it an other way: Tax is legalized rip-off. So this slight skit is in that movie to push the ideology that (not said, but intended) offshore companies are illegal. Sure. Then what about Nevada? What about Delaware? Let me not say anything more. Do your homework kids.
Making the US President a nice guy who is understanding and can bend the rules (just a bit) is also a bit hilarious (think of Bush). And I do not even write about the other oh-so-proud-we-are kind of issues in it.
You know, enough with this. I only watched this because I did not want to do anything useful at the moment. Strongly not-recommended for thinking people though.
