Setting up a custom alert sound for your OS X
Hi you cat and/or fun-lover people all around!
After a while I always felt the default “Blow” alert sound on my OS X to be a bit irritating. Especially when it’sa quiet night, you might be listening to some nice ambient music - and suddenly you hit one more keys than necessary - and the computer wants to let you you that:
Hey, you over there! What the fuck were you thinking - that I’d let you do that? Never!
So I though to myself - well, I do love cats, so why not put a little more friendly alert sound onto the machine..
?
Here are the results, a zipped aiff file downloadable for your pure OS X enjoyment.
And you can listen to the results here:
All you need to do is put the unzipped file into /Users / [your user name] / Library / Sounds / folder. You can pop open your home directory by pressing the Apple + Shift + H keys in the Finder. Then look for Library and finally Sounds in that. That’s all.
You gonna love it.
Once you placed the file properly, pop open your system preferences, pick Sound, and choose your freshly installed Meouw sound.
