Microsoft windows marketplace for mobile - Apple App Store
How innovative these guys are. I am baffled and amazed at the same time.
There’s Apple with its iPhone marketplace or app store or how it’s called. Breakdown:
- Appstore keeps 30% of sales revenue and gives 70% to the developer. MS just copied this - I understand if it seems to be working don’t even try to improve on it
Fucking’ copycats.
- If you want to develop for Apple appstore, you need to register at least for a standard program which costs US $99. You can publish as many apps as you want and it’s a one time fee only. Also Apple reserves the right to decide whether your app can be distributed via its appstore mechanism. This process is sometimes questioned by developers as it’s not too clear why sometimes an app is rejected. On the contrary M$$$ also charges USD $99 (”introductory special price” sure ahhh. happens to be the same as for apple - why not charge US $49 or $119 or something different, fuck me..), BUT it is an annual price. Also you can only publish 5 apps per year (LOL!) anything more will cost you. Whoa! This is an improvement! Also they “promise” that the process of approving your application or rejecting it will be much more clear than apple’s (I guess so… hard to believe, but whatever).
So again we’re here. I can’t help but not really like Microsoft. Their business decisions are questionable. If you copy at least you should try to change a few things (it would be still quite clear who you copied anyway). But no, they just don’t care. In this world where soon your piss and fart will also be “copyrighted” and “patented” - I wonder if Apple managed to secure a patent deal on the appstore. Not that apple and ms would ever sue each other. The big bosses have each other’s stocks in their respective pockets so who gives a shit. Eh. Enough said. Take care.
